"Middle East peace process is in a deep freeze", UN chief says

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon said here Wednesday that "the Middle East peace process is in a deep freeze," urging Israel to "refrain from continuing on this dangerous path," including the efforts to halt plans for more settlement activities in occupied Palestinian territories.

While addressing a year-end press conference here, Ban said: " The two sides seem more polarized than ever, and a two-state solution is farther away than any time since the Oslo peace process began."

The Oslo accords are the foundation on which peace negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians are based. Officially called the "Declaration of Principles," the accords were negotiated secretly by Israeli and Palestinian delegations in Oslo, Norway, in 1993, with guidance by Norwegian Foreign Minister Johan Jorgen Holst.

It was signed in a historic ceremony hosted by President Bill Clinton in Washington D.C., on Sept. 13,carbon sheets 1993, during which the former chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), Yasser Arafat, and former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin grasped hands in an uneasy, yet unforgettable handshake.prepregcc composite

"I am deeply concerned by heightened settlement activity in the West Bank, in particular around Jerusalem," Ban said. "This gravely threatens efforts to establish a viable Palestinian state. "

The two-state solution, which has been widely backed by the international community, means a secure Israel can live in peace with an independent state of Palestine.

"I call on Israel to refrain from continuing on this dangerous path, which will undermine the prospects for a resumption of dialogue and a peaceful future for Palestinians and Israelis alike, " he said. "Let us get the peace process back on track before it is too late."

Direct talks between the Palestinians and Israel came to a standstill in September 2010 due to Israeli settlement activities in the occupied territory.

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) on Monday condemned the Israeli government's decision to build 1,500 housing units in Israeli settlements in east Jerusalem.

The new Israeli plan is the third of the kind since the United Nations upgraded Palestine's diplomatic representation in the world body to a non-member observer state on Nov. 29, when 138 countries voted in favor and nine opposed at the UN General Assembly.adhesive filmProtected hydraulic pressure andlubricate system to ensure overload safety and good bearing lubrication.series impact Cursher and hydraulic impact crusher.
